How to migrate from Miva Merchant to BigCommerce?

1. Setup

Cart Migration is a web application, it will be installed automatically.

2. Migration

Return to http://mycm.litextension.com/cm/abc/xyz, you are now at Step 1 of migration process.

Export products to CSV file

  • Step 1: Log into Miva Merchant admin panel. The path for export differs depending on which version you are using.
    – In Miva x.5 go to Utilities -> Export Data -> Export Products to Flat File.
    – In Miva x.9 go to Menu -> Data Management -> Export Products to Flat File.
  • Step 2: Name the file as products.dat, set Legacy Import Product From Flat File Format and Tab as File Delimiter.
  • Step 3: Fill in the box to Export Field Names as Header.
  • Step 4: In Category Settings, check on Include Category List.
  • Step 5: Press Export button and save the file to your computer.
  • Step 6 : Upload this data to Migration Wizard and proceed to the next step.

Export Categories to CSV file

  • Step 1: Log into Miva Merchant admin panel. The path for export differs depending on which version you are using
    – In Miva x.5 go to Utilities -> Export Data -> Export Categories to Flat File.
    – In Miva x.9 – Menu -> Data Management -> Export Categories to Flat File.
  • Step 2: Name the file as categories.dat, set Legacy Import Categories From Flat File Format and Tab as File Delimiter.
  • Step 3: Fill in the box to Export Field Names as Header.
  • Step 4: Select Code, Name, Active, Parent Category Code fields to export.
  • Step 5: Press Export button and save the file to your computer
  • Step 6 : Upload this data to Migration Wizard and proceed to the next step.

Export Orders to CSV file

  • Step 1: Log into Miva Merchant admin panel. The path for export differs depending on which version you are using.
    – In Miva x.5 go to Utilities -> Export Data -> Export Orders to Flat File.
    – In Miva x.9 – Menu -> Data Management ->Export Orders to Flat File.
  • Step 2: Name the file as orders.dat, and set Tab as File Delimiter.
  • Step 3: Fill in the box to Export Field Names as Header.
  • Step 4: Press Export button and save the file to your computer.
  • Upload this data to Migration Wizard and proceed to the next step.

Export Attributes to CSV file

  • Step 1: Log into Miva Merchant admin panel. The path for export differs depending on which version you are using.
    – In Miva x.5 go to Utilities -> Export Data -> Export Attributes to XML File.
    – In Miva x.9 – Menu -> Data Management -> Export Attributes to XML File.
  • Step 2: Name the file as provide.xml and Press Export button.
  • Step 3: Download the file to your computer and save it in the place that is easy for you to find.
  • Step 4: Upload XML to Migration Wizard and proceed to the next step.

Export Customers to CSV file

  • Step 1: Log into Miva Merchant admin panel. The path for export differs depending on which version you are using.
    – In Miva x.5 go to Utilities -> Export Data -> Export Customers to Flat File.
    – In Miva x.9 – Menu -> Data Management ->Export Customers to Flat File.
  • Step 2: Name the file as customers.dat, set Legacy Import Customers From Flat File Format and Tab as File Delimiter.
  • Step 3: Fill in the box to Export Field Names as Header.
  • Step 4: Select Login Pass; Recovery Email Ship; First Name Ship; Last Name Ship; Email Ship; Phone Ship; Fax Ship; Company Ship; Address Ship; City Ship; State Ship; Zip Ship; Country Bill; First Name Bill; Last Name Bill; Phone Bill; Fax Bill; Email Bill; Company Bill; Address Bill; City Bill; State Bill; Zip Bill; Country fields to export.
  • Step 5: Press Export button and save the file to your computer.
  • Step 6: Upload this data to Migration Wizard and proceed to the next step.

– Cart Type: Choose ‘Miva Merchant’
– Cart URL: Your Miva URL

BigCommerce Setup

You need to retrieve API credentials from your Bigcommerce admin account.

1. Log in to your BigCommerce store’s control panel.
2. Go to Advanced Settings.
3. Then step to API Accounts.
4. Click Create API Account.
5. Enter a Name for the app, and copy or make note of the API Path.
6. Under OAuth Scopes, specify the API resources and permissions to which your app/integration requires access.
7. Choose Modify permission for all API resources.
8. After making changes, click Save.
9. Copy or make note of the Client ID and Access Token. If you are using Chrome, Firefox, or Edge a text file containing the API token and Client ID should have downloaded to your computer.

2.2. Migration Configuration

  • Select suitable Languages, Order Statuses and Currencies for BigCommerce store.
    Languages Mapping: If your Miva Merchant is multilingual, corresponding languages (or storeviews) should be available in BigCommerce.
    Currencies Mapping: Assign Miva Merchant currencies to proper BigCommerce currencies.
    Orders Status Mapping: Assign Miva Merchant order statuses to proper BigCommerce order statuses.
  • Select all data you want to migrate from Miva Merchant to BigCommerce.

    Clear current data on Target Store before Migration: All current products, categories, manufacturers, customers, orders, product reviews, taxes will be cleared in BigCommerce if you choose this option
    Migrate categories and products SEO URLs: if you choose this option, old SEO urls of source will be preserved in Bigcommerce Store, allowing you to maintain your Pagerank.

2.3. Migration
After the migration is completed, click on “Clear Cache and ReIndex Data” to finish.
